Producer Communications

Bookmark and Share

Producer communications is both a requirement of the order and what most producers want. This program area is designed to provide information to producers about how their checkoff dollars are invested, and the results of these investments. This includes the Beef Board annual report, informational advertising in print, on radio and on television, e-mail communications, coordination with beef and dairy industry media, direct communications with producers, and semiannual surveys of producers about what they want from their checkoff.

BEEF. The REAL Story is YOUR Story

The checkoff’s producer-communications and issues-management teams worked together to develop a pocket-size “talking-points flip book” for state beef council directors, Beef Board members, Federation directors, Masters of Beef Advocacy (MBA) graduates and anyone else actively engaged in defending beef’s image. The new booklet, titled “BEEF. The REAL Story is YOUR Story” was patterned based on the six MBA program courses: Each section contains talking points, “did-you-know” facts, a reference page with additional websites for more information, and notes pages. The booklets will be printed in time for summer conference. Click here to view an electronic copy.

Producer Attitudes Toward Checkoff Positive

Seventy-two percent of beef and dairy producers continue to believe they are “somewhat” or “very” well informed about the program, and 72 percent approve of the checkoff, according to a recent survey of producers. The survey also found that more than 6 in 10 producers believe the checkoff is well-managed, helps contribute to the profitability of their operations and allows for the representation of their viewpoints. More than 7 in 10 believe the checkoff is there for them in a crisis and has value even in a down market. Aspen Media & Market Research conducted the producer attitude research in June to measure awareness of, attitudes toward and concerns about the Beef Checkoff Program. Findings are based on 900 interviews of a representative random sample of beef and dairy producers nationwide and have a maximum statistical margin of error of ± 3.3 percentage points.
