Beef & Dairy Industries Work Together to Tell Nutrition Story
Contact: , 402-856-2097;
If you think the American beef and dairy industries don’t have much in common, it may be time to take another look. Both beef and dairy producers depend on top-notch animal care to be successful, and it turns out there’s even more common ground.
In fact, through their checkoff investments and the Nutrient Rich Foods Coalition, beef producers and dairy producers are working to educate consumers and to tell the story of the nutritional value both beef and dairy products deliver.

The Beef Checkoff Program was established as part of the 1985 Farm Bill. The checkoff assesses $1 per head on the sale of live domestic and imported cattle, in addition to a comparable assessment on imported beef and beef products. States retain up to 50 cents on the dollar and forward the other 50 cents per head to the Cattlemen’s Beef Promotion and Research Board, which administers the national checkoff program, subject to USDA approval.
