According to the Beef Act, consumer information means nutritional data and other information that will assist consumers and others in making evaluations and decisions regarding the purchase, preparation and use of beef and beef products. This includes checkoff programs such as consumer public relations about beef and the cattle industry, from pasture to plate; communications with nutrition influencers about the nutrient qualities and profile of beef; and youth education and information about the role of beef as part of a healthy diet.

Love Me Tender(loin): I Heart Beef Program Launches

During the month of romance, the checkoff’s food public relations program shared good news with media, bloggers, consumers and influencers: Americans love Beef. A survey conducted on behalf of the beef checkoff revealed the many reasons Americans love beef, and it served as the foundation for the I Heart Beef program. Recognizing that 62 percent of Americans said steak is their most desired Valentine’s Day meal, culinary experts shared the perfect recipe for love: a special T-Bone Steak for Two. For the more than half of Americans who prefer filet mignon to accompany candlelight, red wine, linen tablecloths, and romance, the culinary team also created a Filet Mignon with Herb-Butter Sauce and Mushrooms. A variety of media materials, including a tip sheet on creating the perfect beef lovers’ experience and a survey fact sheet were also distributed and are included in the BeefItsWhatsForDinner.com Newsroom.

It's What's For Dinner Wednesdays

A recent four-week checkoff-funded social media program called “It’s What’s For Dinner Wednesdays,” invited bloggers to participate in a weekly recipe challenge and blog about the recipe and results on their sites. Each Wednesday, participants added their reviews of the weekly recipe to BeefItsWhatsForDinner.com, with a link to their post. Over the course of the program, associated blog posts drew more than 350 comments, plus 50 comments and 129 “Likes This” indicators on the checkoff’s Beef For Dinner Facebook page.
