Welcome to MyBeefCheckoff.com, a new source of information about the national $1 beef checkoff. All producers now have an opportunity to get to know their checkoff by subscribing to a monthly newsletter by simply typing in their e-mail address (bottom, left menu) and selecting beef or dairy editions.
Seventy-two percent of beef and dairy producers continue to believe they are “somewhat” or “very” well informed about the Beef Checkoff Program, and 72 percent approve of the checkoff, according to a recent survey of producers. The survey also found that more than 6 in 10 producers believe the checkoff is well-managed, helps contribute to the profitability of their operations and allows for the representation of their viewpoints. More than 7 in 10 believe the checkoff is there for them in a crisis and has value even in a down market.
The latest wave of the Consumer Beef Index highlighted various positives for beef, as well as some insight to consumers’ areas of concern about it. First, the percentage of consumers who concur that ‘the positives of beef strongly outweigh the negatives’ hit 27 percent, representing our most satisfied beef users – and a new high for the spring wave of the study. Second, an additional 46 percent of consumers believe that ‘the benefits of beef somewhat outweigh the negatives.’ And finally, consumers continue to rate nutritional attributes, as well as value and ‘craveability,’ increasingly higher as a basis for making a dinner selection, and beef is showing performance progress on these same attributes.
